JAG Perks

Being a student at the University of South Alabama is a reward all in itself, but along with that, many perks are rewarded for being a Jag. Becoming a jaguar allows you to be apart of a huge family, one that everyone embraces you and welcomes you with open arms. On campus, the perk of just being able to walk up to a complete "stranger" will reward you with a full conversation. Along with being part of the family, the opportunity to receive things such as free snow cones on hot days are in place just to show South's gratitude towards us for being a jag. Game days are also filled with perks, with the presence of your student ID, students are able to enter any sporting event by just flashing it. The perks of being a jag is limitless, become part of the jag family to explore all of the possibilities!

Homecoming Week!

South Alabama is celebrating homecoming week with the theme "54 Year: Roaring Through the Decades."  Homecoming is a special event because it brings together the community to celebrate. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and fans all come together to show their Jag spirit in a week long list of activities for everyone to participate in. The homecoming football game this year will be Saturday, October 21st against Louisiana-Monroe at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Leading up the the game, Monday there is the traditional "Junk the Jungle" where students toss rolls of tissue in the traffic circle to cover the trees which is immediately followed by a huge bonfire and and movie night rewarding warm coco and s'more. Tuesday night is for the battle of DJ's. Where the best DJ's battle to show off their skills in hopes of winning the cash prize. Wednesday night is fun fest. Everyone comes out to just relax and have fun and to enjoy free food. Live music, inflatables, and games liven up the night as everyone ROAR through the decades having a blast. Thursday and Friday are also full of activities events such as the ice cream and the Joey Jones Luncheon, but the main event is Saturday. Saturday evening is when you come out in school colors, screaming to the top of your lungs supporting the JAGS!

Fall Break!!

Hey everyone! Its finally fall, my favorite season of the year. To set off the fall season, we have fall break. Fall break gives you the opportunity to relax and clear your mind before midterms and have fun. For fall break I enjoy watching football, returning home to visit family, and studying with friends for midterms.
This fall break I am spending my watching the South versus troy football game. With Troy being South's rival, this game is sure to bring tons of excitement. I also plan to visit family to just relax and vent on how this semester is currently going. Wrapping up my fall break, I plan on studying to ace midterms and to get a head start on the courses i have.

Favorite Course

This semester I am taking calculus, physics, geography, and western civilization, totaling 14 credit hours. Although each of these courses are great and teaches new information every class period, I would have to say physics is my favorite. Physics is my favorite course this semester because of the information we learn and how it is applied in everyday life.

My calculus based physics course takes the information we learn in different class and then applies it to the real life situations. For example, in class recently we were discussing friction and how its important is calculated in here on campus. The problem we discussed explained that when going around the traffic circle, if you exceed 40 MPH bad things could happen. From this example with the traffic circle, to sports including football and baseball, physics is required and gives you a better understanding of everything around you.

What I've Learned...

Since leaving home for college and becoming a Jag, I've learned the importance and value of family. The importance of having a strong re...
